In Vabi Elements, each building and each room within the building require input data for various calculation modules. Vabi Elements distinguishes between Resources and Templates. You first create a Resource, which is then linked to its corresponding Template. Later, you associate the Templates with the Geometry. You can create multiple Templates to assign a unique Template to each room, or you can apply one Template to multiple rooms. There are also Templates at the building level, which are not assigned to individual rooms but to the entire building.

Resources are categorized into the following topics:

  • Materials: Contains material properties of all materials, such as thermal conductivity (lambda) or thermal resistance, density, and specific heat.
  • Constructions (including glass and sun protection): Comprises Materials with associated thicknesses.
  • Internal heat gains (IWP’s): Includes heat gains from people, appliances, and lighting.
  • Solar systems: Such as Solar Panels (electricity) and Solar Collectors (heat), intended for Energy Performance of Buildings (EPG).
  • Time schedules: For installations, use, and metering hours intended for cooling load and building simulation.
  • Installations: Such as Generation, Distribution, and Air Handling, containing predefined (combinations of) generators, heating curves, and air handling units.
